Notes: Everyone is massively OOC, so don’t bother to flame me on that point. I don’t give out rewards for being Captain Obvious. That also goes for trying to educate me on the finer points of the after-effects of rape, torture, blah blah blah. If you manage to take this story seriously, you need more help than I do.

This story could be categorized under: humor, horror, drama, romance, angst... they all fit to some degree. Uh, hurt/comfort also applies, I suppose.

I should like to point out that this story was prompted by a dream I had, which involved Harry, Severus, and Moody. Dumbledore might have been in it, but I can no longer remember about him. The dream itself was fairly vivid—certainly enough for me to remember and sketch out what I had seen, as I often forget my dreams five seconds after I wake up. The scene itself is referenced in the first chapter, as is befitting.

It was not until quite some time later that I realized the driving force behind any of this. At that particular time in my life I was extremely pissed off at a particular person (and it is not easy to make me hopping mad). Now, I tend to be fairly unemotional. One might say I subconsciously suppress my emotions, which might explain why some commercials and movies see me turning on the waterworks (sometimes very unexpectedly). So I realized well after the fact that my sublimated anger wrote itself out in these chapters. I do not confront people in real life, I do not fight, etc., unless I absolutely must.

I can, however, depending on the circumstances, hold a grudge for a hell of a long time, and the very mention of this person’s name, the subject of my ire, made me see red for quite some time. In the end I managed to let it go, and I honestly think that is part of why Aftermath never got all that far. I ran out of ‘steam’, so to speak.

This is also a departure from my more normal style in that there is sex in just about every chapter. But, considering what Harry is, that kind of makes sense. It will not and has not changed my views on the inclusion of sex in most stories. I still think most stories containing sex in them do so for some kind of naughty thrill or as flat out filler material (and usually badly done at that). There are stories out there with excellently done sex scenes, but those seem to be few and far between, never mind stories in which these scenes seem to slot in elegantly.

The nasty bits, though, are completely in character. I have never had a problem trying to gross people out and I have a wonderfully sadistic imagination.

Hopefully anyone reading will appreciate my sense of humor considering the subject matter at hand.
